‘Bilabaa’ – A Story of River, Culture and Connection

Birdon is proud to unveil a new commissioned artwork titled ‘Bilabaa’ – River Place, created by Birrbay (Birpai) artist and Cultural Industries Creative Director, Angela Marr.

‘Bilabaa’ celebrates the Hastings River – Dungang in Gathang language – where Birdon’s journey began nearly 50 years ago. The piece honours the Birrbay People’s enduring connection to Country and kin, featuring the Dinuni (Shark), the totem of the Birrbay Nation.

Angela brings over 20 years of experience in cultural arts, community consultation, and storytelling through bold, contemporary design. Her work is deeply rooted in Aboriginal culture and language, and we are honoured to showcase her artistry across our offices.

The original artwork is proudly displayed in our Port Macquarie corporate office, with framed prints also featured in Sydney and Henderson.

‘Bilabaa’ is a visual reminder of our heritage, our values, and the inclusive future we’re building together.
