Our Community Investment

Birdon supports the communities in which we operate, focusing our efforts where they create meaningful and lasting impact. Our approach is grounded in strengthening industry, supporting people and contributing to the long-term resilience of the regions we call home.

Our approach is guided by three focus areas:

  • Design

    Quality Education

Supporting pathways into maritime, engineering and technical careers through education, STEM engagement and hands-on learning.

Birdon invests in programs that inspire the next generation to explore careers in industries critical to Australia’s sovereign capability. From sponsoring regional science and engineering challenges to providing structured work placements for secondary and tertiary students, we focus on connecting young people with real-world industry experience. Our partnerships with schools, universities and education providers help bridge the gap between the classroom and the shipyard, giving students the exposure, confidence and skills to pursue rewarding technical careers.

    Decent Work & Economic Growth

Strengthening regional economies and workforce participation through local employment, apprenticeships and supply chain investment.

Birdon is a significant employer in the regions we operate in, and we are committed to building resilient local economies by investing in the people and businesses around us. Through our apprenticeship and traineeship programs, we create structured career pathways that support long-term workforce capability. We actively engage local suppliers, subcontractors and small businesses, contributing to sustainable economic growth and ensuring the communities that support our operations benefit directly from them.

  • Worker

    Good Health & Wellbeing

Championing safety, supporting those who have served, and fostering an inclusive workforce.

Safety is at the core of everything Birdon does. Through our Make It Safe program, we raise funds to support life-saving organisations like Marine Rescue, Surf Life Saving and Westpac Rescue Helicopter, extending our safety-first culture beyond the worksite and into the communities around us.

Birdon proudly employs and supports veterans transitioning from the Australian Defence Force into civilian careers. As a corporate partner of Bravery Trust, we help current and former ADF members access financial assistance, counselling and new career pathways.

Guided by our Indigenous Engagement Plan, we are committed to creating culturally safe workplaces and supporting employment and training opportunities for Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander peoples in the regions where we operate.
