Running for a Cause: Meg Teasdell’s 100km Tribute to Our Veterans

At Birdon, we believe in leading with purpose, and few embody that spirit more than our own Meg Teasdell.

As a newly appointed Bravery Trek Ambassador, Meg recently completed a remarkable personal and physical challenge: running 100 kilometers overnight during the Dusk till Dawn event in Canberra. Held at the Australian War Memorial from 7pm on Friday 17 October to 7am Saturday 18 October, the event brought together over 220 participants from Defence, industry, and the broader community to raise funds for Bravery Trust, a national charity supporting veterans and their families through financial hardship.

The event raised more than $180,000, with donations still coming in. But beyond the numbers, it was the spirit of the night that left a lasting impression.

Meg’s dedication stood out. Running through the night, she not only completed the full 100km distance but also uplifted fellow runners, supported other teams, and kept morale high during the most challenging hours. Her efforts were recognised by Bravery Trust CEO Garth Callender, who wrote:

“Meg flew the flag for both Bravery Trust and Birdon with exceptional grace. She didn’t just participate, she led by example, embodying the resilience and determination we see in the veterans we support.”

Reflecting on the experience, Meg shared;

“Bravery Trust just hosted Bravery Trek overnight at the Australian War Memorial; follow their path, understand their journey, support our veterans. A beautiful and meaningful event. I decided to run all night, starting early with Murray Bruce to achieve our respective goals. Thank you to all who made the event what it was, and to all of my friends and family who have donated.”

Meg also joined fellow ambassadors Murray Bruce and Singh Talwar in laying a wreath at the memorial, an emotional and symbolic moment that underscored the event’s deeper meaning.

Birdon’s Commitment to Veterans
